The Old Curator Newsletter 29042023

Hi there

I hope this newsletter finds you well! As always, I've been keeping an eye on the latest happenings in the world and wanted to share some of my thoughts and observations with you.

Im going to dive straight in this week as I have had a lot of feed back and responses to my social media posts and last Newsletter. People seem to have the same questions. The Number 1 question is....What do I write about?

The 2-Minute Guide to Finding Your Writing Topic

  1. Discover a topic by thinking about your hobbies, interests, or experiences.

  2. List four actions: a. Brainstorm ideas: Write down everything that comes to mind, no matter how small or big. b. Choose a favorite: Pick one idea that excites you the most and focus on it. c. Research: Learn more about your chosen topic to gain knowledge and inspiration. d. Outline your thoughts: Organize your ideas into a clear structure before writing.

  3. Explore and write: Dive into your interests, and let your creativity flow as you write your masterpiece.

Yes but also....If you use Chrome on your computer and you should.....look at History...Journeys

If you have spent more than an hour in the last month researching something then others have. They are probably not as good as you at researching and certainly won't have the patience you have.

You are the niche and you are the expert.

By checking your own history you can identify 3 topics

  • Ok next write an ebook

  • Er no you need to figure out if people are actually interested in what you have to say.

  • How? There is no need to re invent the wheel.

  • Get on twitter and instagram and start searching of people who have an interest in what you are going to write about and follow them /bookmark them add them to a notification list.

  • They are doing your market research for you. Take a careful note of anything relevant they say and note how much of a reaction they get.

  • That will give you an indication of whats going to fly.

Last time we looked a capturing information and collating it.
So what do you do with it? - Start writing.

The web is an interesting place, but we don’t always have the time and attention to immediately read through an interesting article or link when we first come across it.

What Caught My Eye:

Neuroproductivity is the neuroscience of productivity. Most of us have goals we would like to achieve. These can be professional or personal. But obstacles get in the way, which we need to overcome to get closer to where we want to be.

What Made Me Laugh:

What Made Me Think:

For the last few years, I have been looking for ways to get to know myself better. An unexpected life event in 2019, followed swiftly by trying to maintain my freelance career while solo parenting through a pandemic, left me feeling I had lost my sense of self.

What Music I Miss:

2 minutes in!
