The Old Curator Newsletter 20052023

with Rob James

Hi there

I hope this newsletter finds you well!

As always, I've been keeping an eye on the latest happenings in the world and wanted to share some of my thoughts and observations with you.

A few things to talk about this week and something new

2 Minutes 2- fast and furious 2 minute take aways

Something I keep seeing on Twitter and Linkedin …….

Repurposing. Any Idea what that means?

I do and am doing it every day- this newsletter is partially re purposed content I have published across various platforms.

Many people like

......Explain ( as do I ) that you should constantly harvest ideas and keep them in some form of ideas bank- I have written about that in previous newsletters.

When you have a bunch of ideas look at them and take the ones that leap out at you or keep coming back to you then write an article about it.

Publish it across various platforms

Then

Rewrite it as as for example a Question and Answer guide, a List of xxx things, a how to guide and once again publish it,

This is repurposing same theme content and research used over and over.

Then turn the wheel again and use your repurposed content produce tweets, Linkedin posts and Twitter threads.

So How do you repurpose?

Repurposing is basically regurgitating and re using.

  • Google: By optimizing it for search engines.

  • Surveys: By turning it into a survey or questionnaire.

  • About people: By turning it into a biography or profile.

  • Tweet: By turning it into a social media post.

  • LinkedIn: By turning it into a professional post or article.

  • Article: By turning it into a blog post or vice versa.

  • Thread: By turning it into a discussion or forum post.

  • Outline: By using it as a basis for a new piece of content.

  • Book: By using it as inspiration for a new book or e-book

You can do that manually which would take all day.

or

you can use AI and do it in 1/20 of the time

  • rinse and repeat

  • Take an article summerize it extract action items- re write them by constructing VERY precise clear AI prompts

  • Then construct a hub once again and…..

  • ...tweet

  • .....article.

  • ......variations of article

  • .....threads......

We are all about to become content engineers.

How is something I will be writing about in future issues and in a digital guide.

2Minutes2 Guides

Why has it took me so long to realise the power of journalling?

Journaling is an effective tool for managing stress and anxiety. Writing down your thoughts and feelings can help you process them and gain a better understanding of yourself. Studies have shown that journaling can also improve sleep, boost mood, and strengthen immune function. Whether you prefer to write in a paper journal or use a digital platform, the benefits of journaling are numerous and well-documented.

5-point action list for digital journaling:

  1. Research and compare different digital journaling platforms or apps

  2. Set a reminder or schedule a recurring calendar event for journaling time

  3. Create categories or tags for organising your entries

  4. Experiment with different multimedia elements to find what works best for you

  5. Backup your digital journal to a cloud storage service or external hard drive at least once a month.

Why Reinvent the Wheel

I'm a great believer in NOT reinventing the wheel so go read this thread by Ev Chapman on twitter it is a real eyeopener. An expert on repurposing.

When someone tells you building an online business is complicated.....

What Caught My Eye:

Authors are spamming out Kindle Books using ChatGPT. I can confrim this having recently bought a book related to AI on Kindle with over 70 reviews. The book went back after 24 hours it was full of gibbersish and bad grammar

What Made Me Think:

300,000-year-old footprints reveal extinct human went on a lakeside family outing among giant elephants and rhinos In a forest clearing of birch and pine trees in what is today central Europe, herds of long- extinct beasts once gathered to drink on the shores of an ancient lake. Ironically experts say they became extinct because of climate change.

What Made Me Laugh out loud

45 years ago......Donna Summer

Patti Labelle said, "She was the greatest and underrated vocalist ever!!" Dick Clark said, "She never got her due . The most underrated vocalist".

As always, I hope you find this newsletter informative and enjoyable. Feel free to reach out with any questions or thoughts you may have.

Best,

Rob James aka The Old Curator
