I hope this newsletter finds you well! As always, I've been keeping an eye on the latest happenings in the world and wanted to share some of my thoughts and observations with you.

The Truth About Making Money Online: Are You Ignoring the Past and Not Learning the Basics?

Making money online is a popular topic, but are you ignoring the past and not learning the basics? 

Gary Vaynerchuk is a great example of someone who has mastered this topic. If you want to be successful, you need to embrace his writing style and use a persuasive tone, rhetorical questions, and storytelling to engage readers. Use metaphors, analogies, and other literary devices to make points more relatable and memorable. Write in a way that is both informative and entertaining.

The Old Approach

In the past, people used to believe that making money online was easy. All you had to do was build a website and the money would start rolling in. However, this approach is outdated and ineffective.

• Build a website and wait for traffic

• Create a product and hope it sells

• Use Adsense to generate revenue

It crashed and burned for me - a long story I will be writing about in Future editions of the Old Curator. The writing was on the wall in 2005

Many climbed on the gravy train including myself to have it come crumbling down

• We concentrated on Adsense only seo

• We Forgot people

• We did not build a list

After all of that years ago I was surprised to see people are STILL building Adsense sites

Jay is a very smart marketer who I respect immensely and he must have had a reason to use Adsense but my experience in the past means I am very wary of this approach.

Indeed, Jay's approach might have been successful for him, and it is essential to consider that each marketer's journey can differ.

However, diversifying income streams and not relying solely on Adsense or similar models has proven to be a more stable and effective strategy for many.

By exploring other revenue-generating opportunities such as affiliate marketing, sponsored content, or even creating and selling digital products, one can build a more resilient and lucrative business in the long run.

Most People Try This Approach…and fail

Most people who try to make money online focus on the wrong things. They spend too much time trying to get traffic and not enough time creating value for their audience.

Why It Doesn't Work for Them

This approach doesn't work because it ignores the basics. You need to provide value and build an audience before you can start making money online.

I will never focus solely on Adsense or a similar model. Why?

Because the game has changed

The modern approach is all about understanding the basics and putting in the work.

• Build an audience by providing value

• Create a product that solves a problem

• Use social media to connect with potential customers

A Better Way to Approach the Problem

To truly succeed in making money online, it's crucial to take a step back and analyse the landscape.

• Identify your strengths, passions, and the value you can provide to your audience.

• Focus on building a strong foundation for your online presence, and invest time in creating high-quality content that resonates with your target audience.

• Embrace the modern approach to making money online by prioritising user experience, leveraging social media, and diversifying your income streams.

• By doing so, you'll be better equipped to navigate the ever-changing world of online entrepreneurship and achieve lasting success.
